At the beginning of the 20th century,the Argentine church,which had historically been relatively weak in Latin America,was further weakened by liberal and positivist ideas,and other European new ideologies,and was deep in crisis.Under the influence of European New Theology,in the 1930s,several Latin American churches,including Argentine Church,launched the“Integral Catholicism”Movement from top to bottom,trying to control the society comprehensively.This movement achieved certain results among the middle class,and the social influence of the church reached the peak in history.But this influence soon gave way to the Peronist movement,which was rooted in workers and the underclass.They inherited the church’s social theory but marginalized Catholicism.The conservative“Integral Catholicism”Movement died out,but the social network it created laid the foundation for the spread of Catholic reformist ideas in the 1960s.
