On the Function of symbols in the Biblical hermeneutics of Augustine

Augustine proposes the theory of symbols.He distinguished things from symbols,and classified them more fully explaining the meaning and interpretation methods of each class of symbols.So,we can see the two functions of symbols,one is to point to things,the other is to convey meaning on the minds.In biblical hermeneutics,the function of discussing symbols is mainly embodied in the loving relationship that the reader establishes with things in the text.This is also of important significance for general hermeneutics,and through the meaning of symbols can act on spiritual revelation,it can inspire the reader to think about the meaning of text and life in understanding.
