A Study on the Missionary M.White’s Translation and Dissemination of Western Women Thoughts

晚清来华女传教士亮乐月译介了一批以西方妇女生活和儿童教育为主题的女性书籍,宣传西方女学思想。亮乐月采取译述结合、读者为本、译创互鉴、编创互补、书刊结合等方式传播西方现代女学思想,在近代中国树立了全新的现代妇女形象,对近代中国妇女解放运动产生了积极的影响。亮乐月西方女学思想译介与传播的历史经验对当前文化外译依然具有现实价值和意义。

Laura M.White,a female missionary who came to China in the late Qing Dynasty,translated and introduced a number of women books on western women’s life and children’s education.By means of reader-oriented translating,creating and editing,M.White established a brand-new image of modern women through the dissemination of books and periodicals and had a positive impact on the women’s liberation movement in modern China.The historical experience of M.White’s translation and dissemination of western women thoughts is still of practical value and significance to the current cultural dissemination.
