摘要
罗杰·弗莱是一位有洞见的英国艺评家,而他的贡献不止于此,他同时也是一位现代主义的画家和设计师。1913年,弗莱与其友人成立了欧美加工作室,进行室内设计等工作,这是他设计理论的实践来源。弗莱在致力于消除设计与艺术的界限上,不仅努力做出了理论阐释,更通过欧美加工作室的设计实践,带动了英国室内设计的发展。除了宣扬了现代艺术的风格,他努力做出了一种力求平衡的尝试,为艺术家在进行纯艺术创作与满足生计之间,开创了一个新空间。本文旨在理清弗莱开创欧美加设计工作室的前后经过,介绍欧美加工作室的设计实践,梳理欧美加工作室的作用和贡献,以及评价弗莱在这一时期关于设计理论的价值和影响。
Roger Fry is an insightful British art critic,and his contribution is not limited to this.He is also a modernist painter and designer who practiced his theory.In 1913,Fry and his friends set up the Omega Workshops to carry out interior design work,which is the practice source of his design theory.In the effort to eliminate the boundaries between design and art,Fry not only made efforts to make theoretical explanations,but also promoted the development of British interior design through the design practice of the Omega Workshops.Apart from promoting the style of modern art,he made an attempt to pursue balance,creating a new space for artists to create pure art and fulfi ll their livelihoods.This paper aims to clarify the experience of Fry’s creation of the Omega Workshops,introduce the design practice of the Omega Workshops,sort out the role and contribution of the Omega Workshops,and evaluate the value and infl uences of Fry’s design theory in this period.
