Consolidating the Foundation and Perfecting the Discipline:Interview with Professor Zheng Jianqi of Wuhan University of Technology

探索工作必须研究源始概念究竟指代什么,以标明解说历史性问题的出发点,对起源问题的回溯是演变与发展的根基,同时也是理论创新的源泉。设计学学科建设不仅要思考当下及未来的道路,还要对其如何铸炼而来进行追溯。百余年来,中国的设计学学科在时代发展与一代又一代学术研究者的共同努力下,经历了不同的历史阶段。人们对"图案""工艺美术""艺术设计""设计学"等概念出现过不同的解读,致使设计学的发展道路艰难,但本质上,设计学的属性相对稳定不变,内涵与知识领域则随着人类的科学进步与社会文明的发展的得益完善与扩容。

Exploration of art or science begins with the understanding of the origin of the concept so as to indicate the starting point of explaining historical problems.Tracing back to the origin problem is the foundation of evolution and development,and also the source of theoretical innovation.The discipline construction of design should not only consider the current and future path,but also trace back to how it was forged.Over the past one hundred years,Chinese design discipline has gone through different historical stages with the development of the times and the joint efforts of generations of academic researchers.People have different interpretations of the concepts of pattern,arts and crafts,art design and design,which makes the development of design difficult.But in essence,the attribute of design is relatively stable,and the connotation and knowledge field are improved and expanded with the development of science and social civilization.
