特朗普国情咨文演讲的批评隐喻分析——以2019和2020年为例

A Critical Metaphorical Analysis of Trump’s 2019 and 2020 State of the Union Speech

批评隐喻分析是由查特里斯-布莱克(Charteris-Black)提出的一种全新的话语分析理论,他将批评话语分析、语料库分析和认知语言学结合,旨在揭示政治语言背后隐含的意识形态特征和政治意图。本文以特朗普2019年和2020年国情咨文演讲为语料,通过定量统计概念隐喻的分布特征、定性分析概念隐喻的语义内涵,揭示了特朗普此次演讲背后所隐含的身份建构及政治意图。研究显示,特朗普使用概念隐喻进行了"自我"和"他者"的身份建构,试图表明自己的政策制定的出发点和落脚点都是美国人民,目的是推行其政策方针、获得更高的支持率。

Critical metaphor analysis as a new approach of discourse analysis is proposed by Charteris-Black,who combines critical discourse analysis,corpus analysis and cognitive linguistics to reveal the ideology and political intention underlying political discourses.Taking Trump’s 2019 and 2020 State of the Union Address as the corpus,this study firstly makes quantitative statistics on the use of conceptual metaphors,and then qualitatively analyzes the political purposes of different conceptual metaphors.From the perspective of critical metaphor analysis,this paper analyzes Trump’s implicit identity construction and political intentions implied in his speeches.The study shows that Trump used conceptual metaphor to construct the identity of"self"and"the other",which indicates that the beneficiary of his policy is the American people,so as to obtain a higher support rate.
