《世説新語》“釣碣”考

On“diàojié”(釣碣)in ShishuoXinyu(《世說新語》)

《世説新語·雅量》中的“釣碣”一詞有“通假説”“錯誤説”“本義説”三種不同理解。將“釣碣”解釋爲“釣羯”是“通假説”和“錯誤説”的主要觀點,但“釣羯”是對謝玄小字錯誤認識的結果,因此上述解釋並不準確。本義“釣魚石”更符合特定語境中作爲詈詞的“釣碣”的意義解釋。

The word“diajie”(釣碣)in“Yaliang”(雅量)of Shishuorinyu.(《世說新語》)has the following three different interpretations:phonetic loan,error making and literal meaning,in which the main viewpoint of the former two interpretations is that“diaojie”(釣碣)should be“diaojie”(釣羯);but in fact“diaojie”(釣羯)is the misunderstanding of another name of Xie Xuan and therefore it is not correct,Research shows that the literal meaning of“diaoyushi”(釣魚石,the stone on which a person stands or sits to fish)is more consistent with the semantic interpretation of“diaojie”(釣碣)as a dirty word in a specific context.
