“梟俊”考辨

Textual Research of Xiaojun(梟俊)

顏師古最早注"梟俊",其注"俊"爲"敵之魁率,郅支是也"。此注既缺乏文獻依據,又與漢人的用詞習慣相悖。"俊"指俊傑、雄傑的用法由來已久。"俊"是褒義詞,沒有出現過色彩褒貶的變化。梟俊,同義連文,指才能傑出、勇猛的人,關合陳湯事蹟。"薦延梟俊禽敵之臣"是兼語句。"梟俊禽敵"的構詞理據不足,不宜作爲成語收錄。

The earliest annotation of xiaojun(梟俊)is from Yan Shigu.He noted jun(俊)as the leader of the enemy Zhi Zhi(郅支),who is the chief of Xiongnu in ancient China.This annotation not only lacks literature basis,but is also contrary to the usage in the Han Dynasty.Jun(俊)is a commendatory word referring to outstanding hero,the emational state of which has never changed.Xiaojun(梟俊)is synonymous repetition,which means a man of outstanding ability and courage.It coincides with Chen Tang’s deeds."jianyan xiaojun qindi zhi chen"(薦延梟俊禽敵之臣)is a concurrent statement."xiaojun qindi"(梟俊擒敵)has insufficient motivation for word formation and should not be regarded as an idiom.
