摘要
根據《爾雅》《說文解字》以及歷代文獻的記載,"蝒"即是"馬蜩",指大蟬,或係误解。根據郭璞《方言注》引《爾雅》"蝒馬者蜩"释讀的提示,"缅"應為小蟬,據段玉裁《說文解字注》引《廣韻》《玉篇》明"蝒""虫丐"為異禮字。緬、麵(麪)、湎、緜(綿)、靦、蔑、篾、米蔑、蠓、濛等是音近義通語源義為"小"的同源詞,由此推斷"蝒(虫丐)"也具有語源羲"小","蝒"指小蟬。
according to the records of Erya(《爾雅》)and Shuo wenjiezi(《說文解字》)and the literature of past dynasties,"蝒" is "馬蜩",and "馬蜩" refers to the big cicada,which may belong to a wrong interpretation.According to the explanation of Erya(《爾雅》)quoted in Guo Pu’s(《方言注》) "蝒"should be a small cicada,and Duan Yucai’s(《說文解字注》)quoted(《廣韻》)and(《玉篇》)shows "蝒" and "虫丐" as a variant word which has the same meaning.缅、麵(麪)、湎、緜(綿)、米蔑、蔑、篾、糠、蠓、濛 are paronyms with the source meaning of "small",because of their similar pronunciation and it is inferred from this that the word "蝒(虫丐)" is synonymous with "small",and "蝒" refers to small cicada.
