摘要
Flash fiction is a kind of mini-sized story that contains no more than 1,000 words.This kind of fiction emerged alongwith the development of the times.Due to its short length,simple plot and limited words,it focuses on shaping the personality ofcharacters.Both the two flash fictions,"The Story of an Hour"and"The Unicorn in the Garden",express a similar theme of mar-riage,but they employ different ways to create characters.With a detailed comparison of the characters and the characterization be-tween the two works,this paper intends to explore the methods of shaping characters from point of view,psychological descriptionand language description.
