Interpreting the Imperial Mandate of Title-endowment of Xi Baotian’s Great-grandparents in the Collection of the Hunan Museum

湖南博物院藏东安席宝田的曾祖父母诰封,是清朝同治十一年(1872)的诰封实物资料。本文通过释读诰封的内容,来解析席宝田人物生平、功绩,并结合诰封颁布的时代背景,探究此诰封背后的历史价值和意义。

The imperial mandate of title-endowment for Xi Baotian’s great-grandparents of Dong’an in the collection of the Hunan Museum is a real object of such mandate dating from the 11th year of the Tongzhi Reign Period of the Qing dynasty.This paper,through interpreting the content of this mandate,analyzes the life,achievements and official experience of Xi Baotian and,in combination with the time background of the endowment,explores the historical value and meaning behind this mandate.
