萧绍渠为一代湖湘名商,其萧氏家族是历史上江西商帮的杰出代表家族,史料记载较少。院藏熊希龄《恭祝萧筱泉观察七十双寿序》书札回顾了萧绍渠的成长生平、着力描述了他高超的经商能力,详细历数了他诸多善举,以及淡泊名利、勤俭治家的传世家风,是研究萧氏家族尤其是萧绍渠本人史料的有益补充,具有一定的研究价值。

There are few historical records of Xiao Shaoqu,renowned merchant of his time in Hunan,whose family is an outstanding representative in the history of Jiangxi business group.Xiong Xiling’s“Congratulatory Letter to Xiao Xiaoquan on His 70th Birthday”reviews his life experience,focuses on the description of his superb business ability,and recounts in detail his many philanthropic deeds and his family tradition of being indifferent to fame and wealth,industrious and thrift.This letter is a useful supplement to the study of Xiao’s family and especially to Xiao Shaoqu’s own historical materials,so it has certain research value.
