An Overview of Pottery-base Lacquer Vessels

漆器是我国古代的重要发明。陶胎漆器是漆器中的一种,是在陶胎上髹漆或者髹漆后再作漆画的器物,是陶器和漆器技术与艺术的有机结合,其中又有髹漆、黑漆灰层、髹漆后再彩绘的不同。新石器时代陶胎漆器就已出现,各地考古不断发现数量较多的陶胎漆器表明,陶胎漆器战国时期出现较多,汉代处于发展的高峰时期,东汉以后急剧衰退。对陶胎漆器的研究可以进一步丰富和深化对漆器的理解。

Lacquerware is an important invention of ancient China.As one category of lacquerware,lacquer vessels with pottery bases refer to the ones with pottery bases coated with lacquer or coated with lacquer first and then decorated with lacquer.This organic combination of pottery and lacquer techniques include lacquer coating,black lacquered ash coating,and lacquer coating before color painting.Such lacquer vessels appeared in the Neolithic period.The increasing number of such vessels in archaeological findings all over the country shows that they appeared in large number in the Warring States period,reached the developmental peak in the Han dynasty,and drastically declined after the Eastern Han dynasty.Researches on lacquer vessels with pottery bases can further enrich and deepen our understanding of lacquerware.
