Online learning,aiming to break through the geographical,resource,and economic constraints of traditional education,has played an important role in providing fair education opportunities for all types of learners.However,how to meet the diverse learning demands of thousands of people with limited education resources has become a major challenge that online education needs to solve.Against this background,the new generation of information technology,with metaverse as a typical example,provides a new perspective for us to address these challenges.To be specific,in the context of vigorous promotion of the development of metaverse technology and related industries in China,online learning and education has ushered in unprecedented opportunities of reform.The metaverse,with its immersive experience and related capabilities,is expected to solve the problems of online education.This article,starting from the characteristics of metaverse technology and its applications,intends to explore the benefits as well as the problems and challenges brought by online learning and other new technologies.Hopefully,the study here might provide online education institutions and workers with some inspirations.
