细绎长安城的历史意义——妹尾达彦隋唐都城研究新著试评

Combing the Historical Significance of Chang’an City:Try Commenting the New Book About Research on the Capital of Chang’an in Sui and Tang Dynasties by Tatsubiko Seo

2019年6月在西安问世的日本学者妹尾达彦教授《隋唐长安与东亚比较都城史》一书,是将已发表的诸多论文精心编辑缀述后委托中国学人翻译而出版的最新著作,这自然得益于中日学术界大力交流的推动作用。这部著作以“概观东亚都城的历史,并论述隋唐长安的历史意义”为总的目标,使用比较都城史、城市社会史诸多研究方法和自创的“图表讨论法”,运用独自创造的“都城时代”“农牧复合型国家”等概念,对中国都城史上的隋唐长安、隋唐长安与东亚国际关系、与隋唐长安共同反映东亚城市发展过程和盛况的建康、洛阳,展开了全面的研究。本文谨就新著的研究目标、著作结构、论述思路、逻辑起点、对“农牧交错带”概念的使用、对“土地利用”概念的使用、整理方法的使用、“历史意义”的认识途径、隋唐长安历史意义认识的深化诸题,展开了作者论点介绍、回顾及评议工作,最后在结语中对照比较,认为中国学人积极地开阔视野、开拓思路,怀有切实可行的想法最为紧迫,且能脚踏实地,付出行动,还能持之以恒,以精细化研究为目标,我们的城市史研究就会产生颇具水准的论著和图册,进而揭示出长安城更为丰硕的历史意义。

The book of Chang’an City and the Capitals Comparison in East Asia in Sui and Tang dynasties by Tatsubiko Seo(妹尾达彦)was published in June,2019,which is the latest work published based on carefully edited articles translated by Chinese scholars.This benefits from the promotion of the strong exchanges between Chinese and Japanese academia.The book’s main target is“Overview of the history of East Asian capitals and the historical significance of Chang’an in the Sui and Tang dynasties”.Using comparative study of the history of capitals,urban social history and the self-created“chart discussion method”,as well as the concepts of“Capital Times”and“Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Country”,a comprehensive study was made on Chang’an in Sui and Tang dynasties,Chang’an and East Asia’s international relations,and Jiankang and Luoyang together with Chang’an in Sui and Tang Dynasties,which reflects the development process and grand occasion about East Asian cities.About the book’s research objectives,structure,discussion ideas,logical starting point,and the concept of“agro-pastoral interlaced zone”,the concept of“land use”and sorting methods,the way of understanding of“historical significance”,and the deepening of the understanding of the historical significance of Chang’an in Sui and Tang dynasties,the paper carried out introduction,review and appraisal of the author’s arguments,and made the comparison in the conclusion.It is concluded that if Chinese scholars actively broaden their horizons,develop their ideas,and have practical ideas and can be step down to earth,take action and persevere,our research on the history of cities will produce high-level monographs and atlases further revealing the splendid historical significance of Chang’an city.
