试论濮阳卫城之名称

On the Nomenclature of Puyang Wei City

卫国是周代最重要的诸侯国之一。其都城曾由卫迁到曹、楚丘和帝丘。关于地处现代濮阳的最后一个卫都的具体名称,一般认为早期称“帝丘”,战国改称为濮阳;也有人主张自初迁之时就称濮阳。通过分析有关的文献,本文断定当时的正式名称是“卫”,“帝丘”只是古地名,是其雅称或别称,仅用于特定的语境。濮阳之“卫”来自今鹤壁市区的第一个卫都,楚丘也曾被称作“卫”。由“卫”改称“濮阳”的时间大约是战国早期。这种变化是当时的大势所趋,体现了各诸侯国由“类城市国家”到“类领土国家”的转变。

The State of Wei was one of the most important vassal states of the Zhou Dynasty.Its capital successively moved from Wei to Cao,Chuqiu,and Diqiu.About the nomenclature of the last one at present day Puyang,most scholars tend to believe that in the early period it was called Diqiu,and changed to be Puyang during the Warring States period.By analyzing the textual records,this article concludes that its official name should be Wei,while Diqiu was just an alternative mostly used in special contexts.The change from Wei to Puyang took place in the early Warring States.Such a change was only one case of that time reflecting the transformation from city states to territorial states.
