Geology and Mineral Resources of Nepal

尼泊尔地处喜马拉雅山南麓,位于印度板块与亚洲板块的缝合带。喜马拉雅造山带是世界著名的现代造山带,具有独特的地质、构造格局,也形成了得天独厚的成矿地质条件。通过对尼泊尔的地质、构造情况进行简要介绍,在构造分区的基础上阐述了各分区的矿产情况,介绍了各成矿区带的优势矿种,提出了尼泊尔的矿产工作建议。目前尼泊尔矿产勘查工作程度很低,尤其是金属矿床,以金、铜、铅、锌、铁为代表的贵金属、有色金属等矿产找矿及开发潜力巨大。

Nepal is situated in the southern part of the Himalayan,a suture zone between the Indian plate and the Asian plate.The Himalayan orogenic belt is a well-known modern orogenic belt which has unique geological and tectonic framework,providing unique metallogenic geological conditions.Based on the brief introduction of the geology and tectonic framework of Nepal,this paper expounds the distributions of mineral deposits in each tectonic zone;introduces the dominant types of mineral deposits in each metallogenic zone;and offers suggestions for the mineral exploration in Nepal.At present,ore exploration in Nepal is underdeveloped,especially the metal deposits.There is a huge potential on the prospecting of precious and non-ferrous metal ores like gold,copper,lead,zinc and iron.
