Film visual art is an important part in Orhan Pamuk’s literary writings. In such writing,he contends that film,as an“Other”in self-consciousness construction,is the key target of imitation for modern individual identification. In countries like Turkey, which are disadvantaged in modernization, people model themselves on those western movies. It has brought huge havoc to the native culture and unhappiness to people.Meanwhile, the related narration about Turkish film industry is subject to Pamuk’s commission to memory writing. The description about film industry in modern Turkey helps Pamuk to restore Turkish collective memory with words. In addition,Pamuk’s contact with movies and works in his daily life has influenced his opinion of“visual writing”and his understanding of the difference between fiction and nonfiction, and also left some traces in his language and styles.
