中国EFL学习者英语单词重音错置研究

A corpus-based study on Chinese EFL learners’ stress displacement

摘要 本文利用语料库语言学研究方法对中国EFL学习者英语重音错置现象进行了实证调查。检索中国学习者英语口语语料库(COLSEC)中EFL学习者单词重音错置,手工标注分析其形态结构、词长、音节结构、音节数、词性和词频,统计、分析这些因素与单词重音错置的交互影响。结果显示,EFL学习者英语单词重音后移倾向明显,多音节词、较长高频词和简单词的重音错置最为常见。作者尝试从语内因素和语际干扰两个方面探寻重音错置发生的原因,并针对语音教学提出了改进意见。 Stress displacement in English words is a common phenomenon among EFL learners in China.Previous studies either relied on experimentally elicited reading aloud of authentic or coined words to explore factors impacting EFL learners’stress acquisition or concentrated on comparison between EFL learners’and native speakers’stress patterns to investigate potential variations.Few quantitative studies have been conducted due to the difficulty of data collection,transcription and error tagging.This study presents an in-depth examination into Chinese EFL learner’s word stress displacement based upon data gathered from the Chinese Learner Spoken English Corpus.Possible interactions between word length,frequency,part of speech,morphosyntactic structure,syllabic structure and stress displacement were investigated.The results show that Chinese EFL learners’stress displacement is most likely to occur in polysyllabic,7-to 10-letter frequent words and simple words.EFL learners tend to shift word stress rearward.Attempts are made to search for possible accounts from both intralingual and interlingual angles and suggestions are given for teaching on pronunciation.
