Automated journalism is a specific application of artificial intelligence in the field of media and communication,which reconstructs the core elements of the media ecology(e.g.journalistic labour).It is suggested that when automated journalism is on the rise in media and communication,journalists are experiencing a skill transformation from"deskilling"to"re-skilling"with the apparent trend of"multi-skilling."Meanwhile,the effective combination of the news production process and the advancement of workers’skills insinuates that in the context of automated journalism,human beings and machines have formed a relationship of complementarity instead of competition and replacement.In the future,the question that whether automated journalism can become a more progressive and liberating force and give journalist labour independent and constructive meanings will not only define journalists’career paths but also broaden the imagination of related researchers.
