Variations and Reverberation of Traditional Ideals:on the Influence of Rodin on Modern Sculpture Concepts

While Rodin changes and liberats the way people watch,understand and think about sculpture he also,to some extent,makes the traditional artistic ideal inherited and reinterpreted,which obtains echoes in modern sculpture.The traditional“ideal of beauty”returned,and has been redefined in modern sculpture.The“ugliness”which was rected by the traditional artistic view has become popular in modern sculpture,and it is endowed with the function of redemption and enlightenment because of its revelation beyond the beauty of classical ideals.Traditional sculpture attempts to solidify time,poetize death and obtain the eternal artistic ideal through the typical moment,while modern sculpture concentrates on a discussion of transcendence of life from the meaning of existence.
