Translation and the Modern Chinese Development

语言与翻译的关系问题是翻译的本质问题之一。人类已有的翻译认知中,就包括了对翻译具有语言发展功能的认识。从历史角度来看,翻译一直推动着汉语向前发展。在当前的现代汉语建设中,翻译依然需要发挥必要的作用。一方面,翻译应切实履行维护汉语规范性的责任,提高语言规范意识,加强语言规范教育;另一方面,翻译应切实履行促进汉语创新发展的责任,输入新的元素,增强语言表现力。

The issue of the relationship between language and translation is one of the essential issues of translation.It has been acquired as our sure knowledge that translation is a power to promote the development of human languages.In the long history of China,translation has always been pushing the Chinese language forward.Currently in the construction of modern Chinese language,translation still needs to take up its corresponding responsibility.First,translators must effectively fulfill the responsibility of maintaining the normalty of Chinese language,raising our awareness of language norms,and strengthening the education about language norms.Second,translation must fully exert its function as a booster of language innovation,by introducing new elements and new vitality to the Chinese language.
