摘要 多接入边缘计算(multi-access edge computing,MEC)是5G网络在边缘侧的延伸,其高带宽、低时延的网络特性为VR(virtual reality,虚拟现实)的极致用户体验提供了必要保障。同时,5G MEC网络的分布式架构和节点间快速的数据交换能力为VR应用边缘化部署和设备移动性接入提供了硬件基础。从VR的成本和体验两方面考虑,首先分析了基于传统硬件架构的VR的优缺点,然后描述MEC对VR成本和体验带来的益处。最后以VR视频直播场景为例,描述了基于MEC的VR关键技术。 Multi-access edge computing(MEC)is an extension of the 5 G network on the edge side.Its features of high-bandwidth and low-latency network provide the necessary guarantee for the ultimate user experience of virtual reality(VR)applications.At the same time,the distributed architecture of 5 G MEC networks and the fast data exchange capability between nodes provide a hardware foundation for VR application edge deployment and device mobility access.The advantages and disadvantages of VR which based on traditional hardware architecture were considered,and then the benefits of MEC for VR cost and experience were described.Finally,the VR video live broadcast scenario was taken as an example to describe the key technology of VR based on MEC.
