土山湾印书馆与《汉学丛书》的编纂

土山湾印书馆是天主教在华设立从事出版印刷延续时间最长的文化机构。该机构印刷发行了大量书籍,其中尤以编纂出版的法文《汉学丛书》最有代表性。《汉学丛书》由法国传教士和中国教士编纂而成,以探讨中国历史、制度、文学、信仰为主。在民族危机日益严重的近代中国社会,土山湾印书馆既不同于以满足社会需要为主的政府官办出版机构,也不同于迎合社会精英阅读世界的基督教新教在华设立的出版机构,同样有别于以获取利益为主的民营出版机构。在欧风美雨裹挟之下,《汉学丛书》显然不是读书人应对社会危机的首选读物,但是它却成为此时期东史西渐的重要内容。

Tushanwan publishing institution was a Catholic cultural institution that had been engaged in publishing for the longest time in China The agency has printed and distributed a large number of books,among which the French Sinology Series is the most representative.The Sinology Series,compiled by French missionaries and Chinese Catholic missionaries,focuses on Chinese history,system,literature and belief.In the increasingly serious national crisis of modern Chinese,the Tushanwan publishing institution is not only different from the government-run publishing institutions,but also different from publishing institutions set up in China by the Protestant missionaries and the private publishing institutions.Under the threat of European and American style,the Sinology Series is obviously not the first choice for readers to deal with the social crisis,but it has become an important part of the introduction of Chinese history to the west in this period.
