清末民国时期朱家角救火会及其多元作用

The Zhujiajiao Fire Fighting Federation and Its Pluralistic Roles in the Late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China

清末民初,商业市镇朱家角各类自治组织崛起,其中救火联合会最具代表性。朱家角救火联合会除了承担防火救火的本职工作外,还积极参与监督路政、疏浚河道、维护治安、传承国粹等社会治理事务,是观察地方自治组织在市镇近代化转型中发挥多元作用的重要样本。本文借助地方志、青浦老报纸及相关档案史料,较为全面地呈现了朱家角救火联合会成立、管理运作以及协助地方政府参与社会治理的细节。

At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China,various autonomous organizations in Zhujiajiao,a commercial town,rose,among which the Fire Fighting Federation was the most representative one.Zhujiajiao Fire Fighting Federation not only undertakes its own work of fire prevention and fighting,but also actively participates in social governance affairs such as supervision of road administration,dredging of rivers,maintenance of public order,and inheritance of the quintessence of Chinese culture.Zhujiajiao Fire Fighting Federation is an important sample to observe the pluralistic roles played by local autonomous organizations in the modernization transformation of cities and towns.This paper uses local chronicles,old newspapers in Qingpu and relevant archives and historical materials to comprehensively present the details of the establishment,management and operation of Zhujiajiao Fire Fighting Federation and its assistance to local governments in participating in social governance.
