缅怀先贤——李平书遗像画轴

In Honor of the Late Sage—the Scroll Painting of Li Pingshu’s Portrait

李平书是近代上海历史上值得纪念的一位先贤。处于时局动荡的乱世,他始终不忘救国救民于水火,始终以促进上海发展、维护地方稳定为己任,致力于上海市政、商业、实业、文化、教育等事业的发展。他后人向上海市历史博物馆捐赠了一幅其遗像画轴,由王一亭补图,众多名家题跋,是一件具有艺术与史料价值的重要文物。

As a memorable late sage in the modern history of Shanghai,Li Pingshu never forgot to save the country and people from an impending danger during the turbulent days as well as take the development of Shanghai and maintenance of local stability as his mission,committing himself to the growth of Shanghai’s municipal administration,commerce,industry,culture and education.His descendents donated a painting scroll of his portrait mainly painted by Wang Yiting with inscriptions by various artists to Shanghai History Museum,which is a rare cultural relic of both art and historical values.
