英帝国殖民战略如何影响晚清当权士人:以郭嵩焘的见闻和洋务实践为例

How the Colonial Strategy of British Empire Influenced Scholars in Late Qing Dynasty: Taking Knowledge and Westernization Practice of Guo Songtao as an Example

郭嵩焘是晚清洋务派的名臣,也是近代中西交往的代表人物。本文主要关注近代中国在被迫打开国门后,郭嵩焘作为中国的公使,在奉旨出使西洋的过程中如何获得认知;论述其在英国的见闻如何塑造其对英国乃至西方诸国的态度;观察其游历的经历对其洋务思想的影响。本文的研究目的在于考察在19世纪末帝国主义全球扩张的背景下,以郭嵩焘为代表的晚清当权士人持有什么样的世界观和方法论,以及帝国主义者在塑造上述观念的过程中扮演了什么样的角色。

Guo Songtao was a famous minister in favor of the Westernization Movement in the late Qing Dynasty and a representative figure of modern Chinese and Western exchanges.This article mainly focuses on how Guo Songtao as a Chinese minister acquired knowledge during his mission in the West after China was forced to open,discussing how did his experience in Britain shape his attitude towards Britain and other Western countries,and observing how did his tour affect his thoughts on Westernization Movement.The purpose of this article is to study what kind of worldview and methodology did those scholars,who were in power in the late Qing Dynasty like Guo Songtao,has in the background of Imperial global expansion in the late nineteenth century and to study what role did the imperialists play in shaping those worldviews and methodology.
