Discussion on the Funerary Chariot Pits of the Chu Graves in the Warring States Period

战国楚墓随葬车马坑在东周楚国墓葬制度中具有重要地位。迄今发掘的战国楚墓随葬车马坑基本集中在战国中期以后,内涵丰富的战国楚墓随葬车马坑序列建立于诸多考古发掘出的该时期楚墓随葬车马坑资料基础上。与春秋时期楚国典型随葬车马坑比较,战国时期楚墓随葬车马坑与鼎制相结合的程度已经松弛,随葬车马等级制逐渐流于形式。战国楚墓随葬车马制度既有对春秋时期随葬车马特点的明显继承,也出现了较大的突破。到战国晚期,楚国高级贵族的随葬车马已经逐步明器化,其象征意义显然高于实用性。

The funerary chariot pit of the Chu grave of the Warring States Period had an important position in the grave system of the Chu State in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty.Up to now,the funerary chariot pits of Chu graves excavated in the Warring States Period are basically concentrated in the middle and late Warring States Period.The system of the funerary chariot pits of the Chu graves in the Warring States Period with rich connotations is based on the data of many archaeological data of funerary chariot pits of the Chu graves excavated.Compared with the typical burial chariots of the Chu State in the Spring and Autumn Period,the degree of the combination of the burial chariots and the Ding system of the Chu graves in the Warring States Period had been relaxed,and the grading system of the burial chariots had gradually become a formality.The burial chariot system of the Chu graves in the Warring States Period had not only the obvious inheritance of the characteristics of the burial chariots in the Spring and Autumn Period,but also a major breakthrough.In the late Warring States Period,the burial chariots of the Chu aristocrats had gradually become symbolized,and their symbolic significance was obviously higher than practicality.
