In the second half of the 20 th century,the trend of postmodernism was in the ascendant,it also questioned and challenged the scientificity and practicality of Marxist theory.Ellen Wood,a western leftist scholar,stands firmly in the Marxist theoretical position,and gives a comprehensive rebuttal to postmodernism.First of all,Wood denied the postmodernist fractured view of times and the nihilistic view of history,and believed that the analysis method of historical materialism should be adhered to;secondly,Wood criticized the theoretical characteristics of the deconstruction and fragmentation of postmodernism,and stressed that we should attach importance to the holistic view of cognition;finally,Wood exposed the theoretical essence of pluralistic subject theory and the politics of identity theory,and defended the revolutionary mainstay of the working class.Wood’s criticism has great significance for us to correctly understand many mistakes in postmodernism theory.
