As a kind of documentary literature that records detailed information of local natural resources and human landscapes,local chronicles are of great value to the development of local tourism today.During the Ming and Qing dynasties,Beihai officials compiled several local chronicles such as the Chronicle of Lianzhou,Chronicle of Hepu County,and Beihai Miscellany.These chronicles have recorded the rich tourism resources in the area including natural resources like mountains and islands,historical and cultural resources such as ancient buildings,folklores and festivals.These records provide historical materials that support the planning and development of tourist attractions,offer reference for the restoration of cultural relics and monuments,and enrich the cultural connotation of tourist attractions.
