Research on Concubines with Different Clan Names Seen in Newly Released Bronze Inscriptions

本文对鄂侯壶、唐侯制随夫人壶、伯逆车簋、贾子叔子■盘、公子展父诸器等新见器物进行了探讨,认为这几件器物很有可能是为异姓所作媵器。异姓相媵的例子多见于春秋时期,一方面与礼崩乐坏有关,一方面也与春秋霸主政治对列国婚姻的影响有关。各国不惜打破"同姓媵之,异姓则否"的原则,这与"同姓不婚"的原则被打破是一样的道理,婚姻的政治功能性在东周时期被无限扩大。

This paper discusses several newly released bronze inscriptions,such as Ehou Hu(噩侯壶),Suifuren Hu by the Marquis of Tang(唐侯制隋夫人壶),Boniche Gui(伯逆车簋),Jiazi Shuzixi Pan(贾子叔子■盘),and bronzes of Gongzi Zhanfu(公子展父).The author argues that these bronzes were possibly trousseaus of concubines with different clan names from the wives’.Accompanied brides from different clans were common in the Spring and Autumn period,meaning the past rule of "no concubine from clans other than the wife’s own" was broken,as the same fate of the rule that no wife should come from the same clan with the husband.It was not only a symbol of the collapse of rites,but also a result of the political marriage influenced by contemporary hegemons,showing that the political function of marriage was expanded beyond its before limit.
