During the second British invasion of Tibet from 1903 to 1904,disregarding the provisions of the Hague Convention(Ⅳ)Respecting the Laws and Customs of War on Land and the Regulations annexed thereto, signed in 1899,which prohibits looting of civilian property during wartime, the British forcibly seized temples and civilian property, causing great suffering to the ordinary people of Tibet. However, due to the British side's"purification"review of relevant reports and personal writings during and after the war,the truth has been obscured for a long time.So far,the Western society firmly believes that Francis Younghusband is leading a"peace mission".This article summarizes various historical materials disclosed in recent years and summarizes the looting behavior of the British army from two aspects:premeditated looting of cultural relics, allowing the military to loot temples and civilian property, and explores the British's covering up of the looting behavior.
