清人顾祖禹《读史方舆纪要》考订古今郡县变迁,详列山川险要与战守利害,规模宏大,内容丰富,是一部相当重要的历史地理、兵要地志专著,成为治史者必读之书。然该书也存在一些值得注意的问题,不仅年号、年代、地名、水名、方位记录时有讹误,而且徵引文献多从他书转引,以致与原书文字不合。据此,我们在阅读和运用《读史方舆纪要》时,一定要注意结合其他史料,注重对史源的核查,避免产生不必要的错误。
