Our Story:the Story of the Group of Nine

In 1978 China started opening to the outside world and one of the strategic moves was to send teachers overseas for further studies.Nine were selected through a national examination from among young and middle aged teachers across the country and their destination was Australia.This is what is later known as the Group of Nine.The group includes Du Ruiqing(from Xi’an),Hou Weirui(Shanghai),Hu Wenzhong(Beijing),Hu Zhuanglin(Beijing),Huang Yuanshen(Shanghai),Long Rijin(Chongqing),Qian Jiaoru(Nanjing),Wang Guofu(Suzhou)and Yang Chaoguang(Beijing).The oldest in the group was forty-five and the youngest thirty-five.
