The successful creation and use of Dungan writing rekindles the enthusiasm and interest of academic circles in Chinese Pingyin character.Dungan Writing is considered to be a reference for the Chinese Pingyin character. This paper retraces the century-long exploration process of Chinese Pingyin character, and makes a theoretical reflection on Chinese Pingyin character from the perspectives of Chinese character cognitive processing research and the relationship between Chinese and Chinese characters in recent years.Through the analysis of the word formation of Dungan writing,it can be seen that Dungan writing cannot successfully solve the structural problem of simple syllable structure and the prevalence of“homonym”in wrinting Chinese Pingyin character. What's more, its writing style, which is derived from the superposition of suffixes in synthetic language,is not in line with the characteristics of Chinese as an isolated language. In essence,it still belongs to a kind of“phonetic notation”,so it is difficult to undertake the improtant task of being a“reference”for the Chinese Pingyin character.Based on the case of Dungan writing, the paper also tentatively discuss the flaw of evolution theory of writing systems, and the belief that Chinese character is a obsolescent.
