Global Grain Crisis and China’s Grain Security

2021年1月27日,中国社会科学院世界经济与政治研究所《国际经济评论》编辑部、中国世界经济学会联合组织"全球粮食危机与中国粮食安全"研讨会。与会学者就全球粮食状况、治理机制和中国粮食安全等问题展开了深入研讨。

China’s grain production and consumption is,in the long term,expected to stay in a tightbalance following the fast pace of industrialization and urbanization.The country will,for along time,be the world’s largest grain producer,consumer,and importer,which will become anormal characteristic of its grain supply and demand landscape.Although temporarily,there isyet to be any global food crisis and China has,so far,not suffered from serious food securityproblems,in the long run,since China’s grain self-sufficiency rate is only about 67%,withabout one third of domestic consumption relying on import,the country should pay very closeattention to international grain production and supply as well as trade.China should map outits new food security strategy on the basis of drafting a new food security philosophy.
