吴大澂、谭钟麟往来信札考释

Textual Research on Correspondence between Wu Dacheng and Tan Zhonglin

吴大澂与谭钟麟均为晚清的封疆大吏。故宫博物院藏有一通谭钟麟致吴大澂信札,与新近出版的一通吴大澂致谭钟麟信札,正好形成一个完整的往还回合。这两通信札,对了解光绪十九年(1893)的湖南瘟疫及官方救治,有一定的价值。另外,新近出版的吴大澂在回任湖南巡抚期间写给谭钟麟的一通信札,对了解光绪二十一年湖南的旱灾与官方的应对,也有一定的价值。

Wu Dacheng and Tan Zhonglin were both late Qing-dynasty(1644-1911)provincial magnates in officialdom.Together with a letter from Tan Zhonglin to Wu Dacheng collected by the Palace Museum,a recently published letter from Wu Dacheng to Tan Zhonglin happens to complement a full round of correspondence.This pair of correspondence notes are of certain value for understanding the Hunan plague and the government-organized treatment efforts in 1893,the nineteenth year of the Guangxu reign.In addition,the newly published correspondence from Wu Dacheng to Tan Zhonglin written during his re-appointment as governor of Hunan also offers valuable information regarding the drought in 1895,the twenty-first year of Guangxu reign,and corresponding government relief measures.
