Copying the Spirit beyond Form: The Methods and Principles of Copying Texts from Oracle Bones from the Ruins of Yin Collected by the Palace Museum

本文从书法艺术的审美规律出发,以"古意"为评判标准,对前人的甲骨文摹写进行了总结,从用笔、布置和甲骨其他痕迹的摹写三个方面探讨了甲骨文摹写的方法,在此基础上归纳出了故宫博物院藏殷墟甲骨文的摹写原则,以求细致地反映出甲骨刻辞的形式美。

From the perspective of aesthetic rules regarding the art of calligraphy,this article summarizes previous copies of oracle bone texts with"archaic feeling"(guyi)as standard.The methods of copying oracle bone texts are discussed from three aspects–brushwork,composition,and copying of other traces on the bones.On this basis,principles of texts on oracle bones collected by the Palace Museum are induced for the purpose of representing in a nuanced manner the beauty of the form as embodied by oracle bone inscriptions.
