曾国藩诗宗黄庭坚,在诗学主张上,体现两人都强调,读书积理,治性养心,是诗歌创作之根本;曾氏"无心遇之,偶然触之"、"人功与天机相凑泊"的"机神"说,与黄氏"简易而大巧出焉"、"不烦绳削而自合"的诗境说相吻合。在诗歌评论上,曾氏欣赏黄诗"诙诡之趣"与"以单行之气运于偶句之中"。在诗歌创作上,曾氏专学黄庭坚的七言古诗和律诗,几近神似,取决于他坚忍倔强、自拔流俗的个性对黄氏奇崛兀傲诗风的推崇。
