The records on the Muslims of Hangzhou(Cansay, Quinsai) written by two western travelers, Odoric and Ibn Batttuta, in the Yuan period are rare historical sources. The state of Hangzhou Muslims gotten from those two records, such as higher Muslim population, concentrate residential area, and mosques, fits the basic condition of Hangzhou Muslims based on reliable Chinese sources. But those two records also have exaggerative or mistaken parts, especially about the huge Muslim population. So we can’t take them as the fundamental sources, but as secondary reference data.
