萧先生根本的学术追求,是通过掘发船山哲学所代表的中国哲学早期启蒙的现代价值,探究中国传统文化现代化的源头活水,促进中国传统文化的现代化,其船山哲学研究依此方得其恰切理解.萧先生促进中国传统哲学与文化现代化的努力,与现代新儒家经由'返本开新'以焕发中国文化的生命力、从而在新的时代担负其新的使命,二者可谓殊途同归.比较萧先生与现代新儒家于中国传统文化现代化具体途径的不同看法,反思其中的异同和所以异同的根据,对中国传统文化现代化的事业颇有启发,值得深入研究.

XIAO Jiefu’s ultimate academic pursuit is to explore the source of the modernization of traditional Chinese culture and promote the modernization of Chinese traditional culture through exploring the modern value of the early enlightenment of Chinese philosophy represented by the philosophy of Chuanshan. Based on this,his philosophy of Chuanshan can be properly understood. XIAO’s efforts to promote the modernization of traditional Chinese philosophy and culture lead to the same goal as the modern new Confucianism,which,through " turning back to the original and opening up a new world",can radiate the vitality of Chinese culture and thus shoulder its new mission in the new era. Comparing XIAO’s different views on the specific ways of Chinese traditional culture modernization with modern neo-Confucianism,and reflecting on the similarities and differences among them and their basis,it is worthy of in-depth study and quite enlightening to the cause of Chinese traditional culture modernization.
