《文化制度与汉语史》试图从汉语“横”的形态解释中国文学“纵”的变化,并以此回应入矢义高对汉语音韵学过于枯燥的判断.平田昌司的研究,以制度为切入点,重在从社会与历史维度考察汉语音韵的演化.其对于中国古代文学研究的启示在于,文学应关注形而下层面的影响.古代文学研究因较为忽视作为“物质材料”的语言,故而在问题回应的彻底性、研究视角的转换、文学史分期以及文学特质研究等层面,受到汉语史的深度挑战.

Cultural System and the Chinese language history trys to explain the evolution of the longitudinal change of Chinese literature from the transverse form of Chinese language,and responds to the boring judgment of Chinese historical phonology proposed by Iriya Yoshitaka.Hirata Shoji’s research takes the system as the breakthrough point,focusing on the evolution of Chinese historical phonology from the social and historical dimensions.The inspiration of this book to the research of Chinese ancient literature is that literature should pay attention to the influence of the physical level.Due to ignoring language as a"material material",the research of Chinese ancient literature has been being challenged strongly by the Chinese language history on the levels such as the thoroughness of the problem response,the transformation of research perspective,the stage of literary history and the study of the characteristics of literature.
