To the Editor:Currently known syndromes of acute post-infectious or inflammatory demyelination include acute disseminated encephalomyelitis,encephalitis,transverse myelitis(TM),and Guillain–Barrésyndrome(GBS).Demyelination is frequently limited to the central or peripheral nervous systems.The coexistence of myelitis and demyelinating peripheral neuropathy has only been reported in a few children[1,2]and young adults.[3]Also,concomitant TM and GBS in elderly immunocompetent patients has been rarely described.
