Prevalence and risk factors of atopic dermatitis in Chinese adults: a nationwide population-based cross-sectional study

Atopic dermatitis(AD),also known as atopic eczema,eczema,endogenous eczema,and neurodermatitis,is a chronic inflammatory skin disease occurring in children,adolescents,and adults.Patients with AD often have severe itching and may have other atopic diseases(e.g.,allergic rhinitis,asthma,or allergic conjunctivitis).AD has a profound impact on patients’quality of life.The prevalence of AD in Chinese children has been reported.[1]However,no large-scale population-based study has focused on the prevalence of AD in Chinese adults.The present nationwide survey was conducted to investigate the prevalence and risk factors of AD in Chinese adults.
