摘要
In English learning, lexical resources is known to be the prerequisite for students to develop skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Only if the EFL students are in good control of the vocabularies, will they be able to learn English in a relatively easy way. However, teaching of English words does not necessarily rely on remembering, reciting, or dictating only. Instead, they can be taught through more engaging and exciting activities. These ways of teaching vocabulary can not only enlarge students’ word-base but also develop their multiple intelligence such as musical or visual intelligence. This article explores the importance of music and pictures in vocabulary teaching based on Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence theory. The article first emphasizes the importance of vocabulary learning and teaching in EFL classes. Then, it provides a theoretical background of vocabulary teaching, along with some teaching practices, from the perspective of multiple intelligence on two aspects: musical and visual intelligence.
