从翻译的忠实观看归化与异化

On the Choice of Domestication or Foreignization from the Perspective of Faithfulness in Translation

翻译的标准一直是翻译研究中的热门话题。译界普遍认同译作应忠实原文,但不同的理论对忠实内涵的理解却有差别。从翻译各个流派坚持的忠实原则来看,忠实观存在多元化、多维度、动态的特性。采用异化还是归化策略或是兼而有之要看以何种忠实为前提。归化与异化并不矛盾,它们互补共生,为不同的忠实而服务。

The criterion of translation has been a hot issue in translation studies.It is generally accepted that a translated text should be faithful to its original.However,various schools of theory in translation have different understandings of the connotation of 'faithfulness'.By looking back and sorting out this principle it can be found that it has the properties of pluralism,multi-dimensionality and dynamism.Whether to adopt the strategies of foreignization,domestication or the combination of both depends on how the translator holds the criterion of faithfulness.The two strategies are not contradictory but complementary to each other and are a co-existing pair serving different criteria of faithfulness.
