通过历史背景、沿革,尤其是现存于夜郎故地各民族民间音乐文化的研究,夜郎乐舞似可界定为缘起于夜郎时期、夜郎故地上各族人民在各历史阶段创造、演绎、沿袭下来的以铜鼓、芦笙参与为标志,集歌、舞、乐为一体的传统乐舞。从发展的眼光看夜郎乐舞,似可分为乐舞系列、古歌系列、礼俗歌系列、八音系列、傩舞系列。夜郎乐舞是我省重要的非物质文化遗产之一,具有很高的学术价值、教育价值和经济价值。
