有人说“文革发生在中国,文革学在国外”。我以为,只有国内学者做出巨大的努力和贡献,才可能真正提升文革研究的层次和品质。其实,这些年中国的文革研究一直在进行,上海的文革研究亦并非是块“不毛之地”,其史料有著作、辞典、方志、大事记、报刊等出版物类;有档案、群众报刊、传单、民间日记等非出版物类。上海文革研究要在学术层次上有所提升,必需从搜集、整理史料着手。
