This paper introduces the application sphere,function and superiority of CAD technology,illustrates its advantages and disadvantages in engineering design,an points out that engineering designer should pay attention not only to the progress brought by CAD technology but also to its limitation,and should be good at using its advantages to improve design quality,reduce design cycle and to increase economic and social benefits.
