Possession is the most successful novel of Antonia Susan Byatt,one of England s foremost writers.It won the Booker Prize for Fiction,the U.K. s highest literary award after the novel was published.By applying Roland Barthes s literary theory,the paper attempts to analyze the narrative structure and the narrative techniques used in Possession,thus we can understand Byatt s atti- tude towards love,towards female history and her great insight into literature,art and life.
